COMMUNITY RESILIENCE AND CLIMATE JUSTICE

Our Dream: A Community Resilience Hub

In Fall 2023, Leaven Community unveiled a dream to become a Community Resilience Hub. We imagine Leaven as a place where neighbors can grow food, share meals, learn one another’s stories, and exchange skills, resources, and relationships to thrive in these times.

Resilience hubs are trusted spaces designed by and for the community to support people’s day-to-day needs while also growing local decision-making power to shape a just and vibrant neighborhood and city. Resilience hubs can be equipped for energy efficiency, climate and disaster relief, and whatever else the community identifies to help it thrive. Learn more about Resilience Hubs

Design Timeline

From May to August 2025, we are engaging neighbors and partners in a visioning process around local climate and community resilience, ultimately crafting a plan for the resilience hub. Your input will shape both Leaven’s physical building and our community programs.

  • May 2025: Kickoff with a collaborative design session, along with building tours and neighborhood surveys.

  • July 2025: Hold a second collaborative design session, along with a public workshop series on Community Resilience.

  • Fall 2025: Synthesize and finalize the plan for Leaven’s Resilience Hub, then celebrate!

To guide this work, Leaven has formed a leadership “Core Team” to organize for community resilience in our neighborhood and city. Learn more about Leaven’s relational organizing model
