Statewide Mass Assembly

Home.
It’s where we gather to rest, to dream, to nourish ourselves, to care for one another.

On Sunday, March 10th from 4-6pm, we’ll gather 500 strong at Central Lutheran Church (1820 NE 21st Ave, Portland, OR 97212) with neighbors across the state, to hear stories from our organizing, to crack open our hearts and imagination, and to say YES to a calling– taking action so that current and future generations have a place to call home.

These days, too many people’s homes statewide are under threat due to wages and incomes that don’t match increased housing costs, increased wildfires and many more reasons. Meanwhile there isn’t enough affordable housing throughout the state to welcome people out of tents and into homes.

And younger generations ask: will I even have a home?

How did we get here?

We’ve objectified the land and one another by putting belongings over belonging. We’ve ignored the hidden history of land theft and racist zoning laws allowing some to build generational wealth while others struggle to keep up. We’ve been stalled by neighbors who say ‘not in my backyard’ instead of finding a way forward.

And yet, across this place we call home, a vast network of tributaries and rivers and creeks flow and connect us—  inviting us to come together as people of faith and courageous love to work for justice, healing, and repair. So, we invite you to join us to share stories and understand what is possible - and then act, together – to embody, land not as property but land as sacred and to be stewarded with care.

This is a Sacred Organizing House gathering by Leaven Community and Together Lab.
